Are you sick and tired of watching other people use Facebook Ads while you’re still trying other advertising methods with poor results?
Have you tried different approaches to get qualified leads before but failed to get the results you expected?
Have you been reading digital marketing blogs and books but have not yet tried Facebook Ads because you don’t know where to start?
If you answered yes to any of these quesitons, I want you to know that you’re not alone. These questions have been asked by thousands of entrepreneurs so I’d like you to know that I’m here to help you.
Now, unlike all the other people who say they have all the answers, I’l say that I don’t, but I can definitely tell you Facebook Ads is the way to go. Bear with me for a couple of minutes, while you read this and you won’t be disappointed.
You know there are many options to promote your products and services these days. There is no escaping the truth that the main place people spend time currently is on social media. And out of all the social media channels out there, the main one is still Facebook.
I’m sure there are a million reasons (cue Lady Gaga) why you would not advertise on Facebook but here are 6 why you definitely should:
1. Everyone is on Facebook
OK, not everyone, but there’s quite a bunch of people hanging out there. As I mentioned in my ebook “How to Get Clients Fast with Facebook Ads, Even if you don’t know where to start”, there are 1.86 billion monthly active users on Facebook worldwide as of December 31st 2016 (Source: Facebook).
There are also 22 billion Facebook Ad clicks per year. Plus it’s the social network with most active users compared to all the rest.
And all these people spend quite a lot of time chatting to friends and family as well as posting pictures, while the ads are right there in front of them. Don’t you want to advertise where people spend a lot of their time?
2. It’s not expensive to advertise on Facebook
Especially compared to Google AdWords and other platforms like LinkedIn or even newspapers, Facebook Ads are quite inexpensive. This is comparing costs for the same reach, that is the same amount of people viewing your ad.
Of course you have to set a daily budget so you don’t spend more than you want. But what you spend, goes further with Facebook.
Of course there’s always horses for courses, and in some cases cost will be less important than using the correct tool for your needs. So if you want immediate sales of a well known product, such as emergency plumbing, then you’d go with Google.
If you want to take the brand awareness and lead generation route, to get your product known and develop your market, Facebook is your best bet. Have a look at this infographic for more on the comparison between the two behemoths.
3. You can target your perfect customer
This is where all the information Facebook has about their users becomes really useful. And they’ve got loads of that. You can target people based on their location, age, language, gender, interests like golf or marketing, life events such as starting a new job, behaviours such as people who buy watches, connection to your pages or apps or event, and more.
And all these options can be mixed and matched in any way you can think of. We recommend though, not to use too many of them as the audience you would get would be far too small to produce good results. Balance is key here.
For location targeting, for example, you have many options. Locations can be about who lives there, who has recently been there, who are traveling there or all of the above (default option).
Locations can not only be countries, states or provinces, cities and post codes but also free trade areas such as the European Economic Area, regions, such as the Americas and even iTunes App Store countries. Lastly, for local awareness, such as for a cake shop, you can use a distance radius from their physical store address.
4. You can get buyers to come back to your offer or website, again and again
Whoever visits your website picks up your Facebook Pixel and can be brought back again with retargeting, especially if they did not complete the action you wanted them to, such as download your ebook or buy your product.
This means you can easily help people go down your marketing funnel and get closer to becoming a buyer using Facebook Ads with retargeting.
How does this work? When the website visitor picks up the pixel, Facebook shows them specific retargeting ads to remind them they expressed interest in buying your product or why buying your service is the right decision.
This gives them an addiitonal chance to click on the ad to go back to your website to complete the purchase.
5. Find more qualified leads who are just like your clients or buyers
This is what we call “lookalike audiences” and it’s a very powerful concept in Facebook advertising.
Once you get an audience or group of people that is interested, responds and buys your products, you can ask Facebook to find more people with similar characteristics and present your ads to them as well, magically multiplying your buyers.
In this case, the quality of the source of information is important. An audience of your best customers will produce better results than an audience of all your customers.
Also, these Lookalike Audiences used to be only from one country at a time and your source had to be at least 100 people for Facebook to be able to use it to create a Lookalike Audience.
Fortunately Facebook got rid of all these limitations recently. For more details about Lookalike Audiences, check out this article.
6. You can test your ads and adjust based on the results instantly
Facebook also makes it easy to test whether one population responds better than others. With this timely information you can discontinue some ads and invest more on the ones that are working better, making your advertising costs lower.
There is no better platform in this respect, believe me, I’ve been bitten by others that pale in comparison. Facebook tools for this purpose are top notch. You’ll find it really easy to make your ads laser targeted to the right population and so get the best possible results.
